Ask once per order or once per attendee
Decide whether a question is answered a single time for the whole order or separately for each person registered.
When a parent registers three kids, or a captain buys a whole table, some questions should be asked once and some should be asked for every person. Each custom field has a scope setting that controls which.
Per attendee
The question is asked separately for each person on the order. Use it for anything specific to the individual - t-shirt size, dietary needs, date of birth, a signed waiver. This is the default.
Per order
The question is asked once for the whole registration, no matter how many people are on it. Use it for things that apply to the group as a whole - a billing reference, how they heard about the event, or one emergency contact for the family.
Set the scope
- Open your event and go to the Fields tab.
- Add or edit a field.
- Choose "Ask once per attendee" or "Ask once per order", then save.
Per-attendee answers stay attached to each person, so they appear on that attendee's record and travel with them at check-in. Per-order answers are recorded against the order as a whole. If you're unsure, per attendee is the safe default - it captures the answer for everyone and you can still read it person by person.
